PAPER DRESSES

Project Description

These paper dresses were a part of a window installation project in collaboration with designers Matthew Peddie and Andrea Lacalamita, for UnSilent Night in Cambridge, Ontario. The event brings together community in an organised evening walk through the downtown neighbourhoods, celebrating the history of the city and the winter season.  This installation transformed abandoned storefronts, responding to the unique history of each location with a reinterpretation of their origins.  In this case, a storefront that once housed a railway ticketing office and later, a dressmaker's shop, displayed dresses made from paper, their 'fabric' printed with the lace-like patterns of Ontario maps of communities services by the train lines.
